Module 3
d) Time-Time can present positive and negative issues in all learning situations. It is imperative to make sure that students
spend the appropriate time on the content, making sure there is enough time to learn what they need to learn. Lack of time
presents problems with adult learners because they are working, raising families, and life in general.
e) Motivation-Learners must know how the information will benefit them in order to be successful. Instructors must discover
learner motivation and cultivate that motivation or the lack of motivation can act as a barrier at times, especially if the instructor or
trainer fails to form a relationship with the learner. It is important that a friendly, open atmosphere is presented in the session.
Stress needs to be kept at a moderate level. The level of difficulty must be at a level where learners will succeed. In the
cultivation of motivation, positive and negative reinforcement is appropriate if it is used successfully. The instructor or trainer will
be successful if positive reinforcement is genuine, and negative reinforcement does not result in isolation.
